Testosterone Questions & Answers

  • Testosterone replacement therapy treats lower-than-average testosterone levels so you can feel your best. More specifically, it uses prescription testosterone to address a testosterone imbalance and relieve the associated symptoms.  After 30, male testosterone production declines by about 1% annually. This is a natural part of aging, but for some men, it causes side effects that negatively affect their health and quality of life.

  • Consider testosterone replacement therapy if you have symptoms like:

    Reduced sex drive (low libido)

    Erectile dysfunction (ED)

    Decreased physical stamina

    Lower motivation

    Loss of lean muscle mass

    Fatigue

    Weight gain

Sometimes, testosterone fluctuations affect mood and mental health. For example, you might feel depressed or more irritable than usual. Get checked out even if your symptoms are mild. When you increase your testosterone levels, your mood may improve as your other symptoms diminish.

    • On the day of your appointment, you'll meet via a HIPAA-compliant online platform. During the visit, you will discuss your symptoms, including their onset and severity, as well as your lifestyle and health goals. Following this, you'll be referred to a local lab for blood work, with a blood testosterone test being the standard for diagnosing low testosterone. If your test results indicate below-average testosterone levels, a personalized treatment plan will be discussed, which typically includes testosterone replacement therapy and suggestions for healthy lifestyle changes.

  • estosterone replacement therapy uses prescription testosterone to restore your testosterone to a normal level.  Your provider monitors your progress at regular telehealth check-ups. Blood work is ordered at routine intervals, ensuring your testosterone levels reach the desired state.

  • Testosterone cypionate injections or topical testosterone (creams or gels) for TRT or clomiphene citrate tablets to maximize your own testosterone production> Supplements may be recommended and other medications such as anastrozole tablets, sildenafil (Viagra), tadalafil (Cialis), etc, when needed.

ED Questions & Answers

  • Erectile dysfunction, commonly referred to as ED, is a condition that makes getting an erection difficult or impossible to sustain. It’s the inability to get and keep an erection that’s firm enough for sex.   While trouble getting an erection can happen to anyone from time to time, ED negatively interferes with your quality of life when not addressed. It can cause stress, reduced self-confidence, and relationship challenges. ED might be a sign of an underlying health problem.

  • ED symptoms include trouble getting an erection, problems maintaining an erection, and reduced sexual desire. ED can be linked to chronic disease such as diabetes or heart disease.

  • The cause of erectile dysfunction could stem from issues with your emotions, hormones, brain, blood vessels, muscles, or nerves.

    ED risk factors include:

    • Stress

    • Aging

    • Carrying excess weight

    • Clogged blood vessels

    • High blood pressure

    • High cholesterol

    • Diabetes

    • Increased abdominal fat

    • Heart disease

    • Drug or alcohol misuse

    • Sleep disorders

    • Tobacco use

    • Multiple sclerosis

    • Some medications

    • Prostate cancer treatment

    • Some surgeries

    • Low testosterone

    • Depression or anxiety

    • Injuries

Untreated ED can cause an unsatisfactory sex life, embarrassment, anxiety, stress, and a poor quality of life.

  • estosterone replacement therapy uses prescription testosterone to restore your testosterone to a normal level.  Your provider monitors your progress at regular telehealth check-ups. Blood work is ordered at routine intervals, ensuring your testosterone levels reach the desired state.

  • Treating ED may involve one or more of the following:

    Hormone therapy for low testosterone

    Medication management

    Healthy lifestyle changes

    Treating underlying medical conditions

    Routine checkups as needed

Natural ways to minimize the risk of erectile dysfunction include eating nutritious foods, exercising regularly, minimizing stress, maintaining a healthy body weight, and getting plenty of sleep. Avoid smoking and excessive alcohol intake. However, aging, a common ED risk factor, can’t be helped — but treatment can fully restore sexual functioning.

How does a virtual visit work?

Virtual visits are timely, convenient, and accessible, while also helping prevent the spread of illness.

Here, we prioritize your time—no rushed or impersonal appointments. We collaborate closely with you to achieve your wellness goals.

During your visit, we’ll thoroughly address your concerns, symptoms, and questions. We’ll review your medical history and previous treatments to create a personalized care plan through shared decision-making.

Tests & Bloodwork: If needed, lab work (blood tests, self-swabs, flu, or strep tests) can be sent to your local lab like LabCorp or Quest. Imaging studies such as X-rays or ultrasounds can be ordered at your nearby radiology center. You may use your insurance to cover these tests.

Medications: If prescription medication is recommended, it will be sent electronically to your preferred pharmacy, with insurance to help cover costs.

While we cannot perform physical exams, pap smears, or procedures virtually, your local clinicians are here to assist with these in-office tests when necessary.
